Thomas Johnson PhotoDr. Thomas G. Johnson, M.D. - Dr. Johnson received his undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. Upon completing his M.D. degree, Dr. Johnson completed his internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 1973 when he came to Garrett County and formed the Garrett Medical Group. He has been board certified in Family Practice since 1976. Dr. Johnson has certification in EKG interpretation through the American College of Cardiology. Dr, Johnson has been on the medical staff of Garrett County Memorial Hospital and has participated in multiple leadership positions. Since 1973 he has been both the continuous director of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit and an active member of the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Johnson is a designated Class I Air Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Robert Goralski PhotoDr. Robert Goralski, M.D. - Dr. Goralski has been a member of the Garrett Medical Group since 1982. He came to Garrett County after completing his Residency Training in Family Practice at the University of Md. He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland (U.M.B.C.) in 1975 and attended medical school at the University of Maryland receiving his M.D. in 1979. Dr Goralski pursued his advanced training and Medical Residency in Family Medicine from 1979 to 1982 at University Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Goralski has been on staff at Garrett Memorial Hospital since 1982. Dr. Goralski’s special interests at Garrett County Memorial Hospital are in the areas of Cardiology, Intensive and Critical Care. Dr. Goralski’s board certification is from the American Board of Family Practice
Carolyn Sheaffer Photo Carolyn Sheaffer, MS, CRNP - Carolyn received her nursing degree at Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing in 1985. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2000 and her Master of Science degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2003, both from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Carolyn Sheaffer is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2004. She has been practicing with the Garrett Medical Group, P.A. since 2004.
Danny Moon Photo Danny Moon, MSN, CRNP - Danny graduated from the West Virginia University in 2009 with his Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his undergraduate degree in Nursing from West Virginia University and his Associates degree in nursing from Allegany Community College in 1992. Danny brings with him over 20 years of experience in providing health care to Garrett County and the surrounding area. His experiences include 20 years working in the Emergency Department at Garrett Memorial Hospital. In the past, he has also worked for Garrett County Home Health and for Dr. Margaret Kaiser in her practice in Oakland. He has been a volunteer with Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad for over 20 years and still volunteers as a paramedic.
Rachel Friend-Lantz Photo Rachel Friend-Lantz, MSN, CRNP - Rachel graduated from West Virginia University in 2010 with her Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Alderson Broaddus College- Philippi, WV and her Associates degree in nursing from Davis and Elkins College- Elkins, WV in 2006. Rachel is a lifelong resident of Garrett County and graduated from Southern High School in 2003. Rachel has worked as a Registered Nurse at Garrett County Memorial Hospital for 5 years- specializing in labor and delivery. In the past, she has also been a medical surgical Nurse at Garrett Memorial Hospital, and was a Dialysis Nurse at Independent Dialysis Foundation in Oakland. Rachel is board certified as a Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She most recently worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Mountain Laurel Medical Center.
Kenneth Hawk Photo Kenneth W. Hawk, MSN, CRNP - "Kenny" graduated from West Virginia University in 2004 with a Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner and in 1999 with an undergraduate degree in nursing. In 1994, Kenny graduated from Union High School. Subsequent to Kenny’s education, he worked at West Virginia University Ruby Hospital in various departments including the emergency department and adult/pediatric intensive care units. After a couple of years working in Morgantown, WV, Kenny decided to return home to practice as a family nurse practitioner in the areas of Eglon, Oakland and Mount Storm. Kenny, his wife Brandi and children Kobey and Bayleigh currently reside in Mount Storm. Kenny is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nursing Credentialing Center.
Alea McClintock Photo Alea McClintock, DNP, CRNP - Alea graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2013 with her Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing in 2011 and her Associates degree in nursing in 2008 from Pennsylvania State University. She graduated from Uniontown Area High School in 2006. She has worked as a Registered Nurse at West Virginia University hospitals for 5 years, starting on a medical-surgical and trauma unit and later transferring to the neonatal intensive care. She also worked part-time at Preston Memorial hospital, specializing in medical-surgical care. Alea is board certified as a Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She resides near the border of Garrett County in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania.
Shannon Trego Photo Shannon Trego, PA-C - Shannon graduated from the University of Maryland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies. She is board certified nationally and by the state of Maryland as a Physician Assistant. She is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants. Prior to attending PA school, Shannon worked and volunteered as a NREMT-I/FF1. Shannon and her family moved to Garrett County during her clinical year of schooling. They are originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where the rest of their family still resides. Shannon lives in Swanton with her husband Bill and the youngest of their three children, Will. Shannon will be seeing patients at Garrett Medical Group’s Urgent Care/Family Practice located in McHenry Plaza at 24441 Garrett Highway, McHenry, MD.
Lawrence Knapp Photo Lawrence Knapp, CRNP - Lawrence graduated from Simmons College in 2015 with a Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his undergraduate degree in Nursing from California State University, Fullerton in 2012 and his Associates Degree from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo California in 2007. Lawrence brings with him over 7 years of nursing experience as a registered nurse providing oncology care. Lawrence recently relocated to Garret County and has two sons Nathaniel and Aiden.
Elyzabeth Savage Photo Elyzabeth R. Savage, MSN, CRNP - Garrett Medical Group announces the addition of Elyzabeth R Savage, a certified nurse practitioner focusing in family practice and women’s health. Elyzabeth will begin her practice on August 1, 2016. Elyzabeth graduated with honors from The George Washington University with her Master of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner. Elyzabeth is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University in 2011 and worked in the emergency department at Garrett Regional Medical Center for several years. Prior to her medical career, Elyzabeth earned a Bachelor of Science in Adventure Sports from Frostburg State University and was a ten-year member of the faculty at The Key School in Annapolis teaching science and outdoor education. Elyzabeth, a graduate of Southern Garrett High School, is a Garrett County native with strong family roots in the local medical community. She lives in Oakland with her family.
